AutoBarn.com will warranty an item but it will cost you
First I bought parts from Autobarn.com and they shipped the wrong part and I had to pay to ship it back. Then the part failed in 11 months so I called to get it replaced. I was told they would ship a new one and that I was to return the old one. A week went by and no part so I called. Then I was told that I had to ship back the part before they would ship a new one. So I did. A week later I called agian to see where my part was and it was suggested that because two weeks had passed and I needed my car that AutoBarn would refund the purchase price and I should go locally to buy a new one. I got this in writing. So I did. One week later I get a call and Autobarn is shipping a new part but needs my credit card for shipping. I explain our agreement but I am told that they don't do that and that no refund will be issued. If I did not pay for shipping they would not send my part. I now have a new fan clutch installed (bought locally) and one at AutoBarn waiting for me to pay shipping that I will just have to sell once I get it back. Auto Barn has lied in writing and does not seem to care what the consumer thinks. I was told that they lost money on this deal but then agian so did I. I will NEVER purchase from AutoBarn agian. The part was a water pump and a fan clutch for a 2002 Envoy.
AutoBarn Volkwagen Mazda in Evanston
I just leased a Mazda3 a few days ago from Autobarn Mazda in Evanston. The MSRP on this car was $18,500. They tried to screw me over with an outrageously expensive lease of $345 per month. I was astonished, because, originally I was looking at BMW 3 series and Mercedes Benz C- class for a little over $400 a month leased. I couldn't believe that for about $75 more, I could have leased a Mercedes Benz over a Mazda 3 series. Something was definitely wrong. I also did my homework before coming to Autobarn and new that the Mazda3 should have been leased for between $170 to $200 per month. Finally after negotiating for a while, we agreed on a car trade-in of $700 (I had a 93 pontiac firebird), $4,600 down (which includes taxes) and a lease price of $189 per month. Contracts were signed - done deal. The worst part comes next.... The car that I traded in for $700 wasn't starting, which I had told them at negotiations. I didn't have my car with me when I leased the car for that reason and was upfront with them about the condition of the car. I got my new car and Autobarn was to come by the next day to pick up my old car. They came by and towed the car. Two days after, someone from the dealership calls and tells me that I need to give them the money to fix the car I had traded in. The conversation got very heated and there was a lot of yelling going back and forth about this issue. I couldn't believe that they would call me back asking for more money for fixing my trade-in when they had come, towed and accepted the car after all the paperwork was signed. Honestly, I thought they were just taking my car and selling it's parts or junking it - It's a 14year old car and I was honest about it's condition. So, now, I am a very unhappy customer, because A)they tried to gouge me with a high monthly price (which I overlooked after I was able to get them down) and B) trying to get more money out of me after the contract was signed. All I have to say is that, in my opinion, they will try to cheat you anyway they can. Watch your back if you ever decide to do business with them. I would recommend never doing business with Autobarn. I think they are dishonest people and I don't think highly of their morals and values. They are out to get every penny out of your pocket that they can. I hate buying cars for this reason!!!! Is there anyone honest in the auto business? After my experience with Autobarn in Evanston, I'm not very sure.
